FIELD NOTE 01
Create one record per method
Each record needs the purpose, apparatus, authorized source, steps to retrieve, recording task, and unanswered questions. Fill it from the current ACI workbook and JTA, not an old procedure summary.
- C1064/C1064M: concrete temperature
- C172/C172M: sampling freshly mixed concrete
- C143/C143M: slump
- C138/C138M: density, yield, and gravimetric air content
- C231/C231M: pressure-method air content
- C173/C173M: volumetric-method air content
- C31/C31M: making and curing field specimens
FIELD NOTE 02
Keep the two air methods apart
Pressure-method and volumetric-method air content have separate source methods and apparatus. Label practice records by method so a remembered step does not migrate to the wrong procedure.
- C231/C231M record: pressure method
- C173/C173M record: volumetric method
- Method-specific omissions and follow-up
FIELD NOTE 03
Give C31 its own recording task
Making and curing specimens deserves a distinct practice and documentation record rather than a footnote to sampling. Use the current source to check what must be done and recorded.
- Practice the required apparatus tasks
- Record specimen and practice-session identifiers
- Verify details against the authorized method
Common questions
Questions this page answers
Is this a replacement for CP–1?
No. Use the current ACI workbook and JTA for technical instructions; this guide organizes your work.
Should I study sampling separately?
Yes. C172 sampling is a separate practice and is verbally described in the performance examination.
Use an original practice resource
- ACI Grade I Hands-On Practice Log: Seven Methods, Two Tracks
A downloadable method-by-method preparation log for written gaps and observed apparatus practice. It is not an official ACI checklist or performance examination.
- Code and Reference Navigation Drills: Condition Before Table
Original lookup exercises for commercial building, special inspection, and digital-reference study. Includes a blank retrieval log without reproducing standards.
