Keep written and observed results separate
ACI requires both written and performance success. Record written attempts separately from observations of actual equipment practice. A video viewed or procedure read is not an observed demonstration.
- Method-specific written misses
- Actual apparatus session date
- Observer and observed omissions
- Next practice task
Give every method its own row
Use C1064, C172, C143, C138, C231, C173, and C31 as separate study rows. For performance, ACI identifies six actual demonstrations plus verbal description of C172 sampling. Use official materials for the required steps.
- Temperature and sampling
- Slump and density/yield
- Pressure and volumetric air methods separately
- Making and curing specimens
Arrange a real session
Ask a sponsoring group or employer about appropriate apparatus practice and qualified instruction. The worksheet deliberately omits procedural steps: it is a planning record, not a reproduction of the official checklist.
- Confirm available apparatus
- Use the current JTA and workbook
- Log specific omissions using authorized material
- Return for observed practice on weak methods
Worked fictional example
Honest practice evidence
A learner answers C231 written questions correctly but has not handled the apparatus in an observed session.
Reveal the model response
Written practice recorded; actual apparatus practice not yet observed. Schedule an equipment session and record omissions from the current authorized procedure material.
The worksheet cannot certify competence, replace hands-on instruction, or issue ACI certification.

Original HoldPoint editorial guidance. Content updated 2026-10-02. This is not independent expert signoff, an official exam, or a field acceptance standard.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician—Grade I program
Supports: Seven ASTM methods/practices; 55-item, one-hour closed-book written examination; 70% overall and 60% per method; actual performance examination; five-year certification and both exams for recertification.
Limit: Use the linked JTA and current workbook for procedural details. Fees, available dates, and equipment practice must be confirmed with a sponsoring group.
